Responsibilities of Stakeholders

Responsibilities of Authors

• Authors bear full responsibility for the originality of the articles submitted to the journal, the proper use of citations, and adherence to ethical standards. Authors are required to confirm that the articles they submit to the journal have not been published or are under consideration elsewhere. Furthermore, authors must use plagiarism detection software, such as Turnitin or iThenticate, to check their submissions and include the similarity report with their manuscript. Articles with a similarity rate of 20% or higher will not be reviewed. When necessary, the editor may also screen the articles for plagiarism (via Turnitin or iThenticate).

• Photos, tables, figures, or other copyrighted materials included in the article can only be published if appropriate permissions and copyright approvals have been obtained.

• If raw data regarding submitted articles is requested during the evaluation process, authors are required to provide such data to the editorial and scientific boards. Authors who detect a significant scientific error or inaccuracy in their published work must promptly contact the editorial office to retract or correct the article.

Publication Policies

A-General Principles

• The Journal of Women's Studies in the Turkic World is published twice a year, in Spring and Autumn. At the end of each year, the journal's annual index is prepared and published in the Autumn issue. Within one month of publication, the journal is submitted to international indexing agencies determined by the editorial board.

• The Journal of Women's Studies in the Turkic World is published with the aim of disseminating scientific publications covering the social and human sciences, educational sciences, health sciences and natural sciences, addressing all aspects of humanity. The journal also features articles that introduce and evaluate original and creative works in the fields of history, culture, literature, language, and folklore of the Turkish world, as well as important works and figures related to the Turkish world.

• Submissions to the Journal of Women's Studies in the Turkish World must be unpublished. Papers presented at scientific conferences may be accepted provided that this is stated.

• The languages of publication for the Journal of Women's Studies in the Turkic World are Turkish and English. Articles written in other languages, such as Russian, may also be published provided they comply with the publication principles. In addition, translations and reviews may also be published in the journal.

B-Article Evaluation Process

In our journal, the article evaluation process consists of four basic stages: preliminary review, peer review, revision, and publication.

1. Preliminary Review
Submitted works are first evaluated by the editor for compliance with the journal's publication policies, academic writing principles, and the APA 7. At this stage, a similarity scan is performed using Turnitin or iThenticate software. The similarity rate is expected to be below 20%; works exceeding this limit are returned to the author with an explanation.

2. Peer Review Process
For submissions that meet the preliminary review criteria, a double-blind peer review process is initiated. The article is sent to two independent reviewers who are experts in the field. Throughout the review process, both the author and reviewer identities are kept confidential; the process is conducted in accordance with ethical principles and confidentiality standards.
The submission is accepted for publication based on positive reports from both reviewers.
If one of the referees gives a negative opinion, the article is referred to a third referee for a final decision.

3. Revision Process
The time given to referees for the referee evaluation process is 3 weeks. Correction suggestions from referees or editors must be completed by authors within 15 days in accordance with the ‘correction guidelines’. If revisions are requested by the referees, authors must mark the suggested corrections in a different colour (e.g. red) in the manuscript. The changes made are first reviewed by the editor and then re-examined by the relevant referees.
Manuscripts that have completed the referee process are also reviewed by the journal's language editors.
Where deemed necessary in terms of language and writing, authors are requested to make additional corrections. The linguistic revisions made are checked again and approved.

4. Publication Process
Articles that have completed all scientific, technical, and linguistic processes are prepared for publication after typesetting and layout. Approved works are published in the following issue.
